Welcome to the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning
The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) was founded in the Fall of 2008 to enable student learning by providing the faculty with professional development opportunities in teaching.
The vision is to be the locus of the innovative thinking and dialogue that shape pedagogy to reflect Emerson's core values: freedom of expression, diversity of perspective, cultural awareness, integrity, civility, and the responsibility of ethical choice.
In July 2009, the CITL came one step closer to realizing its vision. Three of Emerson's office that support student learning are now affiliated with the CITL: the Service Learning and Community Action Office, the Writing and Academic Resource Center, and the Disability Services Office. Supporting teaching and supporting student learning are central to innovation in teaching and learning.
Centralizing support for teaching and support for student learning has also lead to bringing the support for assessment of student learning endeavors into the CITL. Emerson's efforts to assess student learning for accountabilities and improvements will be guided by and enabled through the CITL's leadership and collaborations with the Office of Academic Affairs.
I invite you to explore this site and visit us in person at the office in 203 Walker.
