
Mission and Goals
The mission for the Center for Diversity in the Communication Industries at Emerson College is twofold:
- To establish diversity as a core value at Emerson College. Realization of this mission will be evidenced by the students who attend, the faculty that teach, and the content of courses and programs that constitute curriculum and learning modalities, and association with businesses in the communication industries.
- To seek out professional communities in the communication industries that reflects diversity as a core value in their business operations and work in colleague with them.

Achievement of the mission for the Center for Diversity in the Communication Industries will be accomplished by realizing the following goals:
- Overcome the financial and informational barriers preventing underserved high school students from enrolling at Emerson College.
- Ensure that all Emerson College students are sensitive to, and aware of, the issues facing minority and underserved populations in the United States.
- Recruitment of faculty and other professionals who reflect human diversity.
- Provide the communication industries with a steady stream of graduates equipped to be effective communicators in a multicultural society while promoting diversity as a core value in those businesses.
- Establish a working relationship with those businesses in the communication industries that value human diversity as a core part of their operating strategies and promote this approach throughout the communication industries.
