The Other Tradition aka "The OT"

The Other Tradition Covers

The Other Tradition is published five times yearly, twice in the Fall semester, twice during the Spring semester, and a late Summer edition.

The title of the publication comes from an observation of America’s social history as coined by Michigan State University historian, Dr. Richard W. Thomas.

Dr. Thomas presents a historical analysis in his book, "Understanding Interracial Unity: A Study of U.S. Race Relations", which traces advances in securing social justice and the collaboration of the organizers of these movements across racial and ethic lines to achieve results.

He calls this on going social phenomena "the other tradition." The Other Tradition publication promotes and reports on current day “cross cultural collaboration” initiatives which advance equality and social justice.

This approach is at the heart of modus operandi for the Center for Diversity in the Communication Industries. "The other tradition" offers a model, a road map, to overcoming the inequities so prevalent in our society. It prompts us to form serried ranks across racial and ethnic lines to challenge injustice, combat racism, and promote human dignity, acceptance and social equity.
