Career Services for Alumni
We know today’s communication and arts marketplace is competitive and fast paced. And, as you enhance your “portfolio” of skills and experiences, you may be trying to determine how best to evaluate career goals. We work in partnership with alumni on making informed career choices that reflect unique skills and experiences.
Although we are not a placement agency, we do offer career advice teaching sound career planning, job search, and networking competencies in both individual and group settings. Through these resources, we can assist you in developing effective strategies. We also keep up to date with resources on the Communication and Arts fields.
On Campus Career Service Assistance
Just because you are no longer a student on campus doesn't mean that you can't utilize the resources in the Career Services office! Emerson Alumni can avail themselves of the following:
- Resume & Cover Letter Critique: Drop off or e-mail your resume or cover letter and a career advisor will critique it and have it available for you to pick up within ten business days. You may also come into our Walk In Hours (Monday through Thursday from 1-4 p.m. during the academic year) for a quick, 15 minute resume review.
- Individual Career Advising: Career Advisors are available to discuss issues related to career planning; resumes, cover letters and interviewing; job search strategies; or career transitions. Call 617/824-8586 to arrange an appointment. Limit of three appointments per calendar year for alumni who are more than one year beyond graduation.
- Mock Interviews: Role play a videotaped mock interview with an advisor. Best for those who have prior interviewing experience. Call 617/824-8586 to arrange an appointment.
- Career Resource Library: The Career Resource Library contains books, trade journals, magazines and reference directories related to communication and performing arts careers. Reference books on resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills and job search strategies are also available. Open during normal business hours.
