Trayless Week Announcement:

Thank you to everyone for the continued participation during Trayless Week in the dining hall! While we are only going trayless for this week, we are making a major impact here at Emerson. Biodegradable trays have been provided for those who choose to use a tray. We can save over 900 gallons of water per meal time by just not washing trays.  There is also a significant energy savings, as the water needs to be heated to 180 degrees in order to effectively clean the trays. Trayless programs run successfully on a regular basis at colleges nationally, notably Quincy Hall of Harvard University, San Francisco State University, and Colby College.  All colleges reported not only a significant reduction in water and energy, but also a reduction in the amount of food waste. So thanks again for your support and participation.
