Holt Named GNAC All-Conference
Emerson College number one singles and doubles player Kayleigh Holt (So., Somerset, Mass.) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference 2007 Women's Tennis All-Conference team by a vote of the Conference coaches. Holt earned a 9-3 record at first singles and had an 8-3 record at first doubles. After Holt was teamed with Laura Miley (FY, Cranston, R.I.) in first doubles in the season's third match, the tandem went 8-1 over the remainder of the season. Holt's career record is 15-9 in singles and 17-6 in doubles.
Saints Eliminate Lions From GNAC Tourney
Fifth seeded Emmanuel College upset number four seed Emerson College 5-4 in the first round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship Tournament to end the Lions' season with a 7-5 record. After the teams split the six singles matches, Laura Miley (FY, Cranston, R.I.) and Kayleigh Holt (So., Somerset, Mass.) took the first doubles match to give the Lions a 4-3 lead. Emmanuel rallied to win the second and third doubles, with each match going overtime to pull out the win. Miley was the only double winner in the match for the Lions as she won her match at number two doubles in straight sets.

Depleted Lions Drop Albertus in Regular Season Finale
Despite the fact that Emerson College (7-4, 4-3 Great Northeast Athletic Conference) could muster only four players to make the trip to Albertus Magnus College for a make-up of the first match of the season that was rained out, the Lions took three singles matches and two doubles matches to eke out a 5-4 victory. The win guarantees Emerson a hone match in the Conference tournament that begins Wednesday October 25. The Lions will host Emmanuel College in the match.

Lions Shutout Pine Manor
Emerson College (6-4, 3-3 Great Northeast Athletic Conference) completed the 2007 regular season with a 9-0 victory over Conference rival Pine Manor College. The first doubles tandem of Kayleigh Holt (So., Somerset, Mass.) and Laura Miley (FY, Cranston, R.I.) remained undefeated in the number one spot with an 8-1 win. The Lions lost only three games in the entire match.

WNEC Extends Emerson Skid to Three With 8-1 Win
The first doubles team of Kayleigh Holt (So., Somerset, Mass.) and Laura MIley (FY, Cranston, R.I.) were the only winners as Emerson College (5-4) dropped a 1-8 non-conference decision to Western New England College at the Weymouth Club. The double win raised Holt and Miley's record at number one doubles to 6-1.

Emerson College #1 singles playerKayleigh Holt (So., Somerset, Mass.) showed the way for her teammates with a three set victory, but the rest of the Lions were unable to match as Emerson (5-3, 2-3 Great Northeast Athletic Conference) dropped a 2-7 decision to Simmons College in a GNAC match.
The second doubles pair of Kate Sitarz (So., Dartmouth, Mass.) and Kelly McCarthy (FY, Saugus, Mass.) were the only other winners for the Lions in the match.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Sophomore Kaitlynn Cates and freshman Alex Hernandez each posted wins in singles and doubles play as Suffolk remained unbeaten on the season with a 6-3 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s tennis dual-match victory over Emerson Saturday afternoon on the Buckingham, Browne & Nichols Courts.
The host Rams (8-0, 5-0 Great Northeast) won five of the six singles contests to overcome an early deficit after the visiting Lions (5-2, 2-2 Great Northeast) had taken two of the three doubles affairs. Cates and Hernandez each won in straight sets at the number two and three singles spots and teamed up for an 8-1 triumph at number two doubles for Suffolk, which also received singles wins from junior Kellie Sturma in three sets at the number one position as well as senior Jen Nelson and sophomore Catarina Rosa at numbers four and five, respectively.
Christina Laboissoniere (So., Pawtucket, R.I.) was a double-winner on the day for Emerson, as she notched a straight set triumph at number six singles and teamed with Christina Skevington (Sr., Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) for an 8-6 victory at number three doubles for the Lions.

Lions Streak to Fifth Straight Victory
The Emerson College women’s tennis team (5-1) won it’s fifth consecutive match as the Lions also pitched their third shut out as Emerson blanked Regis College 9-0. Emerson #1 singles player Kayleigh Holt (So., Somerset, Mass.) stretched her personal unbeaten streak to six with a straight sets victory. Holt and Laura Miley (FY, Cranston , R.I. ) also stayed unbeaten at 1st doubles (4-0).

Holt Named GNAC Player of the Week
Emerson College #1 singles and doubles player Kayleigh Holt (So., Somerset, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the week for the week ending September 30. During the week Holt was 2-0 in both singles and doubles play, remaining undefeated in singles competition with a straight set victory over Newbury #1 and a three set win over Emmanuel #1. Holt also teamed to win both matches at first doubles, including an 8-1 win at Emmanuel that proved to be the difference in the match.
Lions Sweep Leopards
Emerson College (4-1) won its fourth straight match with a convincing 9-0 sweep of Wentworth Institute of Technology at the Weymouth Club. The Lions swept all six singles matches in straight sets, led by Kayleigh Holt (So., Somerset, Mass.), who raised her perfect record at #1 singles to 5-0.

Emerson number one singles player Kayleigh Holt (So., Somerset, Mass.) remained undefeated at #1 Singles with a three set victory. Holt then teamed with Laura Miley (FY, Cranston, R.I.) at first doubles for an 8-1 decision that locked up the match for the Lions.

HOLT GARNERS GNAC ROOKIE HONOR
Emerson women's tennis player Kayleigh Holt (FY., Somerset, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 8. Holt was 4-0 during the week defeating her opponent from Pine Manor College at number 1 singles (7-5, 6-3), and her opponent at number 2 singles against Newbury College (6-0, 6-2). In doubles Holt and her partner won 8-0 at the number two spot versus Pine Manor, and with a different partner teamed to take the number 1 doubles point against Newbury 8-5.
WILSON NAMED TO GNAC HONOR ROLL
Lauren Wilson (FY., Calabasas, Cal.) was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for her play the week ending October 1. During the week Wilson was 2-0 at the second singles position. She defeated her opponent from Mitchell College in three sets (7-5, 3-6, 6-0) and the player from Emmanuel College in straight sets (6-2, 6-0).
