Meet the Coaches
Head Coach Gail Decker-Wittman
Coach Wittman returns for her second year at the helm of the women's lacrosse program following a record breaking 2008 – 2009 season. The team won both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The 2008 – 2009 season was capped with five players making the GNAC All-Conference Team and one player making the All-Region Team.
A native of Baltimore, Decker-Wittman is a 2004 graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., with a degree in communications. Under her maiden name Decker, Decker-Wittman is listed in the NCAA Division I records on the top 10 list for "Most Goals in a Season" & "Most Points in a Season". In 2004, she was a top five finalist for the Tewarraton Trophy, Greater Madison Inc. Athlete of the Year, Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year, Honda Athlete of the Year Award (Top 3 Finalist), Diana Geppi Aikens Award (Top 3 Finalist) first-team All-America, Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All – Tournament Team, CAA Commissioner's Academic Award, and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll.
In 2003 she was also a top twenty finalist for the Tewarraton Trophy, an All-America, an All-South Region selection, was named to the CAA first team and All-Tournament Team, was an IWLCA Academic honoree, and earned the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award.
Decker-Wittman was the 20th person in NCAA Division I history to score over 200 goals in 4 years, she broke 32 women's lacrosse records at James Madison, while serving as captain and earning MVP honors. Following graduation Decker-Wittman coached a variety of camps and clinics from Harrisonburg, Va., to Denver, Colo., with coaching greats, Kelly Young, Gary Gait, Jen Adams, and Cathy Nelson.
Assistant Coach Katrina Hable
Katrina Hable is an established Division I lacrosse player, former All-American, record holder and 4 year Captain at Syracuse University. She was a highly-competitive lacrosse standout, mentor and coach. She has over twelve years experience coaching and brings a wealth of knowledge to the Emerson coaching staff in lacrosse at both the developmental and competitive level. Katrina’s professional skill-set is complemented by her insight as an athlete and coach. She truly has a passion and excitement about her when helping each and every individual and understands how to motivate and encourage each athlete.
Assistant Coach Libby Parent
First year assistant, Libby Parent joins the women's lacrosse coaching staff following an impressive college career at Southern New Hampshire University. Parent was named the 2008 SNHU Female Athlete of the Year, was a four-time All-Northeast -10 selection, three-time NE-10 All-Academic Team member, two-time All- Region Team selection, and a two-time first team All-District. Parent led SNHU in scoring both her junior and senior years and she holds the current SNHU records with 248 career points and 169 career goals. During her four years at Southern New Hampshire Parent led the team to two Northeast-10 championships and two Conference semi-final matches.
