Meet the Coach
Head Coach Michael Blanchard
Player, Coach, Administrator. Mike Blanchard has excelled at each of those levels of lacrosse.
Mike has been involved in the sport of lacrosse his entire adult life. After a high school career at Concord Carlisle (Mass.) High School where he competed in lacrosse and eight other sports, Michael prepped for a year at Bridgton Academy. A four-year playing career as an attackman and midfielder at Boston College followed.
After graduation, Mike was away from the sport for only a year before accepting the job of men’s assistant coach for a year at Boston College. During that year, Blanchard began a career as a lacrosse coach and clinician that has lasted through three decades. Most recently that career has seen him coach high school boys in the Bay State Games and the first girls’ team at Hull (Mass.) High School.
As an administrator, Blanchard is the president and founder of the South Shore Lacrosse League, a 48 team youth league for girls lacrosse. He is the president of Hull Youth Lacrosse where over the course of his two years with the program he has doubled the number of teams in the league and coached the girls under 13 team.
Blanchard has been the Director of Field Operations with Lynx Lacrosse indoor program in southern New Hampshire. He coached both boys and girls Elite teams for Lynx.
An avid sailor, Mike was the 110 Class national sailing champion in 1997. He has been honored by the Mystic (Conn.) Seaport Museum for his work on historic wooden boats, and has developed two programs to teach children to sail.
Mike is a resident of Hull, Mass., where in addition to his lacrosse work he is involved in community activities outside of athletics.
