2008 EMERSON COLLEGE BASEBALL TEAM
“Ninety feet between home plate and first base may be the closest man has ever come to perfection.” Red Smith
“Baseball is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole.” George F. Will
Baseball is America’s game, and the Lions are determined to become a prominent power in the GNAC. Determination, dedication and sacrifice are the foundations of the team’s success.
- Determination To a man and at all levels, the Emerson Baseball Team is resolved to field a competitive program. Strong and active recruiting of qualified student-athletes, solid coaching of the fundamentals of the game, and application of those fundamentals enable us to reach that goal.
- Dedication The players in the program are expected to devote themselves to improving, both as individuals and as a Team. Winter workouts are followed by indoor practice as soon as the spring semester begins. Family, faith, school and baseball is the order of priorities the Team lives by, and during the season that order may even change a bit.
- Sacrifice The willingness to practice indoors on a Sunday night until 11:00pm or at 7:00am at King Field in South Boston when the temperature is around freezing and the wind is blowing in off the ocean, is evidence of the allegiance and loyalty the players have to the program and to each other.
At Emerson, the coaching staff strives to make the baseball experience for each player rewarding and enjoyable. Emerson College is looking for baseball players who want to excel in both the classroom and on the field. This means a student-athlete must understand the commitment it takes to be successful. Work ethic and passion for the game are essentials.
The coaching staff is looking to grow the program by recruiting not only talented baseball players but student athletes who understand and appreciate the effort needed to be the best in the classroom and on the field. Passion for baseball and pride in the Team are as important as a ninety mph fastball or a 400-foot smash.
