The Emerson College community is joining together to fight the effects of the economic downturn. Help us guarantee an Emerson education for those with the greatest potential, not the greatest advantages.

While Emerson itself remains fiscally strong, many students receiving aid from the College come from families directly affected by the recession. The scholarship donation you make today will help ensure that talented students like these will be able to return for the fall semester and continue to benefit from all that Emerson has to offer.

Members of Emerson’s Board of Trustees, Board of Overseers, and Alumni Board, have stepped forward with an exceptionally generous offer.  The group has agreed to donate $70,000 toward scholarships, provided we can attract 725 donors who have yet to contribute this year. This translates into $96 in scholarship funds for every donor, regardless of the amount of the gift.

Help keep some of Emerson’s best and brightest in the picture by making your contribution before May 31. Make your gift now.

COMMUNICATING YOUR SUPPORT

Maintaining Emerson's leadership in communication and the arts rests on our ability to maintain a solid financial foundation for the College. While tuition covers up to 75% of our operating costs, Emerson depends on the generosity of our loyal donors, who range from Emerson alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends to corporations and foundations, to stay financially healthy and academically vibrant.

People donate to Emerson College for a variety of reasons. If you're an Emerson graduate, you may want to show your appreciation for the teachers who inspired you and the opportunities that transformed you, or to give in honor of your reunion. If your loved one studies at Emerson, you may donate to ensure that Emerson remains strong for your student and for future generations of Emersonians. No matter who you are, giving to Emerson reflects the importance you place on communication and the arts - and on an institution that leads the way in academically rigorous education in the creative and communication arts.

How your gift helps

Gifts to the Emerson Fund help the College meet its most pressing needs, from helping qualified students attend regardless of their financial capacity to purchasing state-of-the-art equipment.  Your gift keeps us on the cutting edge of technological and curricular innovation and helps us maintain a learning environment that is vibrant, diverse, and relevant.

Every gift - no matter the size - makes a real impact on the College.  In fact, a strong annual giving program, which indicates a high level of alumni, parent and faculty satisfaction, factors into a college's rank in publications such as U.S. News and World Report and helps convince corporations and foundations of Emerson's worthiness when they consider requests for grants. Whether you can afford to donate $20 or $20,000, your gift strengthens Emerson's finances, programs for students, and its reputation.

Last year, more than 4,300 generous Emersonians gave to the Emerson Fund, committing more than $1 million to the College.  Their gifts - and the gift you make this year - enable Emerson to:

  • Enroll the most talented students by offering competitive financial aid packages and an outstanding, hands-on educational experience.
  • Increase diversity on campus, and ultimately in the industry, by providing scholarships to promising students who would otherwise be unable to attend.
  • Recruit and retain a world-class faculty by providing ongoing professional development and research opportunities.
  • Fund special student opportunities, from the cherished EVVY Awards and Kasteel Well study abroad program in the Netherlands to our recent media coverage of the Beijing Olympics, and the nation's best campus radio station, WERS 88.9 FM.
  • Maintain superb resources, including a well-stocked library and state-of-the-art production facilities and studios.
  • Attract additional funding from corporations and foundations, many of which consider the percentage of alumni, parents, faculty and staff who donate when deciding whether or not to make a gift.
