Emerson Online Networking events are a new service that Emerson College Office of Alumni Relations is providing for our alumni community. In partnership with a company called Brazen, this online networking platform offers a virtual networking space for Emersonians to connect with each other around the globe. Through this platform, the Emerson College Alumni Relations team has created a special series called Industry Networking Hours for alumni of different careers to connect with one another.
Alumni can create an account through our online platform, and then register for upcoming events as they wish. The platform offers one-to-one pairing of participants in small text chats for short periods of 10 minutes each. If no other participants are available, you will be put in line for the next available chat. After 10 minutes, chats will disconnect, and you are given the opportunity to rate the conversation and take some notes to be saved, along with the transcript of the conversation. If there is enough remaining time, you will be connected with another participant, as long as you are still marked active.
Peer-to-peer events, like our Industry Networking Hours, connect pairs of participants at random within industry-themed booths. Hosted events offer participants the opportunity to enter booths with specific hosts, and connect only with the hosts in those booths.
Industry Networking Hours happen every second Tuesday of the month at 12pm. During the hour, alumni can enter into the booth of their industry and be placed in 10 minute text-based chats with other participants at random. There will also be options for additional online industry-based networking events beyond 2nd Tuesdays. Each event is specific for two or more industries. Register for future Industry Networking Hours on the Emerson Online Networking page.
Prior to each event, the Emerson College Alumni Association will send out an email announcement. Event details will also be posted to the Digital Engagement webpage.
Once you receive a link for an Emerson Online Networking event, you can register on the page. You can use your LinkedIn account or create a profile for the event. A confirmation screen and email will follow once you finish registration.

Yes. All chat times are set to 10 minutes but a 2 minute extension is available before the end of the chat. Before the end of your chat, ask the other participant to connect on LinkedIn so you can plan to have follow-up conversations.
During the event if you need to step away, please make sure the blue box for “Accepting New Chats” on the left hand side is unchecked. This will stop you from entering a new chat. After politely excusing yourself from your current chats, click on “End This Chat” to leave the event. If you are not going to return to the event, please log off so your status will be deactivated.
After each chat, you will be asked to rate your interaction and be provided a transcription of your conversation when the event is over. They are completely private; only visible for you to see when you log into the Brazen platform for 6 months after the event.
If the Brazen platform is not working or you having any technical issues with the event, please contact the Emerson College Alumni Relations office at email@example.com.
