Registration information for newly admitted first-year students
On behalf of the Academic Advising Center, welcome to Emerson College! We are very excited that you have chosen to join the Emerson community and we look forward to working with you as you begin your college career.
The Academic Advising Center coordinates the registration of all incoming first-year students, as well as all academic advising services at Emerson.
We will be sending out your registration packets beginning in late June. Your registration packet includes the following:
- Registration Form & First Year Survey (Please send back to Emerson College by Monday, July 14th)
- Registration Supplement Packet (Advanced Placement Information, Emerson College General Education Waiver Information, General Education Requirements and Course Descriptions)
- Frequently Asked Questions Insert
- Emerson College Academic Advising Center return envelope
You will be asked to rank your preferred choices from the general education curriculum. The choices you make on this form, along with your declared major and any incoming waivers, AP, or transferred college credit, will guide us as we schedule your courses. We register students for both the Fall and Spring semesters so that you can arrive on campus secure in the knowledge that you have the courses you want and need to progress successfully through the curriculum requirements.
As a new student, you will arrive to Emerson fully registered. Opportunities will exist during the first week of classes to make changes to your schedule if necessary, but we do encourage students to attend each course before altering their schedules.
The Academic Advisors work throughout the summer to register the entire incoming class. In late August you will receive another mailing from us with a newsletter and instructions on how to view your Fall schedule online. Information on how to make changes to your schedule, if so desired, will also be included in the August mailing.
When you receive your registration packet, please read the enclosed Registration Instructions carefully and make sure to fill out the Registration Form completely! We included a list of Frequently Asked Questions to address the most common questions we receive, so if you are uncertain about something, please check the FAQ sheet.
