Registration information for newly admitted transfer students
Greetings!
On behalf of the Academic Advising Center, welcome to Emerson College! My name is Audra Boden and I am the Assistant Director of Academic Advising who works individually with all transfer students during their first semester at Emerson. I am very excited that you have chosen to join the Emerson community to continue your college career.
Throughout the fall semester, we will work together as a team to review how your transfer credits have been applied to your new curriculum, develop a timeline for graduation, prepare for course registration and learn how you can be your own advocate in completing your degree requirements. Transitioning to a new college can be confusing and overwhelming, but my goal is to offer you the support and guidance that will help you make a seamless transition for a more successful Emerson experience. Therefore, establishing a relationship with me will be the most proactive thing you can do to ensure your academic success at the College.
We will be sending out your registration packets beginning in late June. Your registration packet will include the following:
- Registration Form Pending
- Transfer Credit Form
- Transfer Student Survey
- Fall 2009 Course Listing
- Frequently Asked Questions
The Academic Advising Center will register you for the fall semester so that you can arrive on campus knowing that you have the courses you need to progress successfully through your new curriculum requirements. Please read the instructions carefully and make sure to fill out all enclosed forms and return them to our office by Wednesday, July 15th! It is especially important that you complete the Pending Transfer Credit Form if you are taking any summer classes and/or have spring classes or AP credits that has not yet been evaluated by Emerson’s Registrar’s Office. Any coursework that has not been applied to your transfer credit evaluation could alter the fall schedule that we will arrange for you.
The Academic Advising Center works throughout the summer registering the incoming class. In late August you will receive another mailing from us with instructions on how to view your fall schedule and make changes online, if so desired.
When you receive your registration packet, make sure to check out the Frequently Asked Questions, which will address the most common questions we receive. Please do not hesitate to contact us at 617.824.7876 if there is anything further we can answer. Once again, welcome to Emerson and I look forward to meeting you at Orientation in September!
Warm regards,
Audra Boden
