Why did you choose Emerson College for graduate school?

I chose Emerson because of the flexibility of the program and how it covers all areas of marketing including public relations, advertising, direct/database marketing, sales, brand management, and e-communications. I was also impressed with Emerson’s reputation as being competitive and prestigious—and the location in Boston made it really exciting!

What is your favorite aspect of the Integrated Marketing Communication program?

The committed professors and the flexible course selection.

What do you like best about living in Boston?

I love the city atmosphere and the availability of public transportation. There is always something to do every night and weekend. Coming from a small town, living in Boston is amazing and so much fun! It is also easier for me to find delicious vegetarian food!

What is the best piece of advice you would give someone considering or entering graduate school?

Do your research on the colleges and take your time preparing applications. It took me a good six months to prepare between studying for the GRE, writing my essay, and securing recommendations and having them sent to the college.

Why should prospective graduate students visit Emerson?

I would recommend visiting every grad school you are interested in. You truly get a feel for the community that you will potentially be a part of. Emerson’s campus is particularly modern and exciting. Having a chance to meet with professors is excellent as well.

What is the most surprising thing you've discovered about yourself in graduate school?

The most surprising thing I have discovered about myself is my growing interest in the international student community. I have been learning so much from the international students and I enjoy gaining insight into the cultural differences.

How do you believe your Emerson College graduate degree will affect your future?

My Emerson College degree will open new doors to career opportunities that may otherwise not have been available. This degree will help me focus my career goals and provide unique networking opportunities as well. Also, being associated with Emerson as an alum will allow me to help other Emerson students down the road.
