Why did you choose Emerson College for graduate school?

I chose Emerson because of the unique combination of literature courses, writing workshops, and specialized publishing classes.

What is your favorite aspect of the Publishing & Writing program?

Being able to take creative writing workshops alongside the MFA students has encouraged me to keep writing. I also love the community of the program.

What do you like best about living in Boston?

Boston is a great intellectual city—there are always readings, discussion groups, lectures, and concerts going on. It is also small enough to feel like you’re not just another anonymous face in the crowd.

What is the best piece of advice you would give someone considering or entering graduate school?

The most important thing is to be passionate about your chosen course of study—you’re going to be investing a great deal of time and money in your education, you might as well enjoy it!

Why should prospective graduate students visit Emerson?

Seeing the Emerson campus is to experience what it is like to be a student here, which is important when making your decision.

What is the most surprising thing you've discovered about yourself in graduate school?

I have gained confidence in my writing skills as well as my networking skills, something that I believe will carry me far as I prepare for a full-time publishing career.

How do you believe your Emerson College graduate degree will affect your future?

My degree will help distinguish me from candidates applying for jobs in a very competitive field. I have also established a solid network of professionals who will soon be my colleagues.
