Jeffrey Seglin

Associate Professor of Writing, Literature & Publishing

For Jeff Seglin, all roads have led to publishing.

His career to date has encompassed a variety of roles in the industry, from book editor at Harcourt Brace, to book writer, to magazine editor and writer at INC. magazine.

While attracted to the fast pace of the magazine world, Jeff is drawn to all facets of publishing, fascinated by the process of “seeing an idea move from concept, to execution, to the final printed work.”

As Associate Professor of Writing, Literature & Publishing at Emerson College, Jeff constantly draws on his various professional experiences and contacts, and can illuminate almost any angle of publishing. Jeff also offers his students direct access to industry representatives through guest lecturers.

In addition to teaching at Emerson, Jeff writes a weekly syndicated ethics column for the New York Times Syndicate, and has published:

  • The Good, the Bad, and Your Business: Choosing Right When Ethical Dilemmas Pull You Apart
  • The Right Thing: Conscience, Profit, and Personal Responsibility in Today's Business

“One of the areas of critical importance to me is the integrity required to do good work in publishing. I want to send out graduates who will succeed in the publishing world partly because of their immense talent, but also because they have an understanding and respect for others who work in the industry.”
