Registration Instructions

Registration is done via eCommon. Please read the Registration Instructions carefully.

To ensure a successful registration:

  1. Do your research! Carefully check course prerequisites and permissions. View the course listings »
  2. Review the Registration Instructions (above) and Online Permission Instructions (below). If you have any questions, contact the Registrar’s Office or Student Service Center before your registration time.
  3. Resolve all holds on your account.
  4. Consult your advisor and review your degree audit to track your progress toward your degree.

Summer 2012 Registration

Session Dates for Summer 2012 (Parts of Term)

  • May Intersession (Graduate Students Only): May 3 – May 18
  • Full Summer: May 21 – August 10 (all internships, directed studies, and master’s theses/projects must be full summer courses)
  • Summer Session 1: May 21 – June 29
  • Summer Session 2: July 2 – August 10

When You Can Register

Summer 2012 registration begins at 9:00 am on Monday, March 12. All students are eligible to register at this time.

  • Last day to add or drop a course online for Full Summer or Summer Session 1: Sunday, May 20
  • Last day to add or drop a course online for Summer Session 2: Sunday, July 1

Students participating in programs offered by the Office of External Programs will be registered by that office. You cannot register online.

Course Load

Undergraduate students may register for up to 16 credits over the entire summer term.  Students wishing to register for more than 16 credits must petition the Office of Academic Affairs.

Graduate students may register for up to 12 credits over the entire summer term, including May Intersession. Students wishing to register for more than 12 credits must petition the Office of Graduate Studies.

Payments Due Upon Registration

Payment for Summer 2012 courses is due immediately. If your payment is not settled, your course(s) will automatically be dropped from your schedule. There are no exceptions.

Financial Aid

Financial aid may be available for Summer 2012; review information for Graduate students or Undergraduate students.

Drop Deadlines and Refund Policy

No refunds are available past stated deadlines.

Fall 2012 Registration

Check the charts below to determine when you can begin registering.

The registration system will be down for 24 hours beginning Wednesday, April 11 at 12:00 am and will re-open Thursday, April 12 at 12:00 am. When the system reopens, undergraduate students eligible to overload will be able to do so, and some major restrictions for undergraduate classes may be lifted (check course listings for any lifted restrictions).

Online Registration Permissions

Registration permission is required to over-enroll in a course or to waive a prerequisite or a registration restriction. Late registration permission is required for any courses added during the second week of Add/Drop (Restricted Add/Drop).

All registration permissions at Emerson are applied online only. Emails, phone calls, and handwritten letters from faculty are not acceptable.
