Apartment Furnishings

The Oakwood apartments come furnished with:

• beds
• dressers
• nightstands
• window blinds
• mirrored closets
• sofa
• end tables
• lamps
• coffee table
• dining table
• chairs
• refrigerator
• air conditioner
• microwave

Doubles and quads have dishwashers. The beds in the studio apartments are “murphy beds” (the kind that retract into the wall) with queen-size mattresses. Beds in the one-bedroom (double) and two-bedroom (quad) apartments have regular twin-size mattresses.

Items You Will Need to Supply

• towels
• pots and pans
• dishes
• glasses
• flatware
• TV
• stereo
• and other "comforts of home," which vary individually

You can rent most items (for example: linens, iron and ironing board, TV, vacuum, cookware, etc.) for your apartment from Oakwood Home Services for the time you are staying at Oakwood. For fall and spring: view a complete list of items and prices.  For summer students: view a list of items and summer rates.

Do not plan to ship belongings to Los Angeles unless you are certain you will be there to receive them when they arrive. The Los Angeles Center cannot receive packages for students, and on a couple of occasions during past semesters, packages signed for by Oakwood staff have been lost. Use the Oakwood concierge service at your own risk.

If you don’t want to rent, many items can be purchased at local stores such as IKEA, K-Mart, Target, and department stores. Check with your roommates. Split among four people, the costs may seem reasonable.
