London Summer Theater Program

Emerson College introduces a new short-term study abroad program beginning Summer 2011.

Participants will read and watch plays, write papers, participate in staged readings, create theater reviews of the plays seen, and take field trips in and around London to explore world-famous sites and special events.

For four weeks, students will take part in the great theatrical tradition of London. Enrollment is limited to 12 undergraduate students.

The London theater world is diverse and well established and considered by many to represent the highest level of theater in the English-speaking world. London theater life has been vibrant and of the highest quality since before the time of Shakespeare. The London Summer Theater Program will provide students with a comprehensive learning experience both as a spectator and writer.

Emerson has partnered with IES Abroad. IES Abroad will provide all program facilities, including housing, classroom space, a small lending library, and computer lab, in addition to trained on-site staff. The IES Abroad Center is located in Bloomsbury, the heart of literary London, only a short walk from the world-famous British Museum and the London theater district. The IES Residence Hall is located in Chelsea, close to public transportation and local attractions.
