How to Apply to the Beijing Global Marketing Seminar

Please note that admission may close before the published application deadline, so it is best to apply early.

  1. Enrollment is limited to 10–15 GMCA students. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. Program Deposit: Upon notification of acceptance, a nonrefundable and nontransferable program deposit of $500 is required. Spaces are not held for applicants without a confirmation deposit.
  3. The Program Fee is estimated at $4,878. View a cost breakdown and estimate of additional expenses.
  4. Housing: On-campus program housing (double occupancy only) is required.  All students must stay in the designated residence hall with the group for the full length of the program. Food is not included in the cost of housing.
  5. Health Insurance: Health Insurance applicable in China is required. Unless participants can provide proof of alternate comparable coverage IN CHINA, all participants will be required to purchase [if they haven't already] Emerson College's Health Insurance Plan offered by Aetna Student Health, at an estimated cost of $314 for coverage from May 1 to August 31, 2012.  Aetna's partner, On Call International, provides comprehensive travel and medical assistance, including:
    • Unlimited emergency medical evacuation
    • 24/7 emergency travel arrangements
    • Translation assistance
    • Emergency travel funds assistance
    • Lost travel documents assistance
    • Assistance with replacement of credit card/traveler's checks
  6. Travel: All participants will make their own travel arrangements both to and from Beijing, China. Participants will be expected to arrive in China and move into the residence hall on Monday, May 21, 2012 and depart the residence hall on Friday, June 8, 2012 [dates not yet confirmed].
  7. All participants will ultimately be responsible for obtaining the appropriate travel documents, including passports and Chinese visas.  We will work with all participants to facilitate this process.
  8. Tip for Successful Completion of the Application: Compose the answer to the application question in a simple word processing program such as TextEdit on a Mac or NotePad on a PC, and cut and paste it into the online application form. In the unlikely event your application is lost during transmission, you won't have to rewrite your answer.
