Paul Turano is an award winning visual artist whose work in film, video and installation has been presented throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and North America.
He works across media formats and platforms, incorporating lyrical observational strategies and meditations on personal space, subjective reportage of marginal media events, and long form essay films. He has presented his work in Boston at the Harvard Film Archive, the Institute of Contemporary Art and The Museum of Fine Arts and his films have been screened in over 50 national and international film festivals. Recent screenings include the Festival Images Contre Nature in Marseille, France, the Australian International Experimental Film Festival in Sydney, Black Maria Film and Video Festival, and the Cologne International Video Art Festival, which is currently on a world-wide tour. He is the recipient of a Media Fellowship from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and a Moving Image Fund Grant from the LEF Foundation and has taught previously at Hampshire College, Massachusetts College of Art, Harvard University, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. He is particularly interested in our relationship to natural environments, a theme his work explores in both local and global ways.
