Berklee College of Music, in conjunction with Emerson College, will host Connecting Sound & Picture: A Networking Event for Visual Media, Music, and Sound Artists beginning 7:00pm Thursday evening, November 1, with events spanning the following 48 hours and concluding at 6:00pm Saturday, November 3. All events are free and open to the public, with pre-registration requested for the Friday and Saturday events.

As the only networking event in New England to focus film and game industry attention on the auditory experience of visual media, Connecting Sound and Picture (formerly called Music & Sound for Visual Media) expects to draw several hundred students, faculty and alumni from area arts colleges, as well as professional filmmakers and video game developers. The event is "an opportunity for visual media artists, composers and sound designers to meet, interact and make connections, while also learning from industry-veteran presenters about topics focusing on sound and music for picture," said Alison Plante, Berklee's Assistant Chair of Film Scoring.

The event begins on Thursday, November 1 at 7:00pm at Emerson college's Bright Family Screening Room with a film festival highlighting projects that came about as a direct result of previous years' events. The following night, Friday, November 2 from 4:00-7:00pm at Berklee College's Media Center (150 Massachusetts Ave.) will feature Berklee's Scoring & Sound Design Contest Showcase, which offers a chance to hear 7 different finalists' scores and sound designs for the same footage (an excerpt of gameplay from Sony's God of War). Finally, Saturday, November 3 from 11:00am-6:00pm, again at Berklee's Media Center, will feature a keynote presentation by award-winning composer (and incoming Berklee Film Scoring Department Chair) George S. Clinton (Austin Powers, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) and via Skype director Yves Svimoneau (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, V) presenting about their collaboration on the multi-Emmy-winning Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, a presentation on Hollywood Networking, Agents, and the Film Industry by Montana Artists Agency President, Matt Birch, via Skype, and an "expo" where students and industry professionals will exchange demos and business cards, and present their work to each other.
