Suzanne Hinton runs the Office of Service Learning and Community Action. As Associate Director, she helps faculty members design service learning courses wherein students complete projects built around direct community service at local nonprofits.

The Portsmouth, NH native has taught philosophy, interdisciplinary and gender courses at Tennessee, Bentley University in Waltham, MA and the Bahrain Institute for Banking and Finance in Manama, Bahrain. At Emerson, she teaches three service-learning courses: Action for Community Transformation I and II (IN346), Communities and Race Relations (SO200) and The Sociology of TheEveryday Life (SO320).
