John Rooke is an award-winning broadcaster, and was inducted into the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame with the Class of 2011. Currently serving in several broadcast capacities, including 23 years as radio play-by-play voice for Providence College basketball, John also calls ACC Football, Big East Football and Basketball for the IMG Sports Network, Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, and TV play-by-play for ESPN RegionalTelevision and ESPNU.
Additionally, Rooke has been a sports anchor for WLVI-TV in Boston and three stations in Providence, as well as a fill-in anchor for WVIT-TV in Hartford and WCBS-TV in New York. Rooke has also been the stadium voice for the New England Patriots and New England Revolution since 1993, served as host for PAX-TV's Coastal News, "Golfing The World" on Fox Sports Net, and numerous programs and game broadcasts for many radio stations, including WEEI/WRKO Boston and WPRO/WSKO Providence. He began hosting programs for the ESPN Radio network in 1999, and currently serves as a commercial voice artist. John authored a book on the history of radio in the state of Rhode Island, due for publication in the Fall of 2012.
Rooke has also served as a gubernatorial communications director, and as a program director/manager for a major communications company.
