Tulasi Srinivas is a specialist on globalization, culture and religion. Her work brings together key contemporary concerns of the global political economy, morality, and ethical life.

Focusing on ethnographies of contemporary Hindu popular practices,  Srinivas' research concerns the cultural politics of religion and the processes of globalization in urban India through cross-disciplinary and comparative analysis of  religious ideology, experience and subjectivity. Her work is at the exciting intersection of urban anthropology, cultural anthropology, political economy and religious studies.

Srinivas is the author of Winged Faith: Rethinking Globalization and Religious Pluralism Through the Sathya Sai Movement (Columbia University Press 2010) and she is currently finishing a monograph titled Forging Faith: Ambivalent Globalization and Innovative Ritual in the Temple Publics of Bangalore city (2014) She is also the co-editor of Curried Cultures: Globalization, Food and South Asia (University of California Press 2012). Her research has been funded by the Pew foundation, the NEH, the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University, The Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs at Georgetown University, The Center for Religion and World Affairs at Boston University, and Emerson College.

Srinivas is currently an advisor to the World Economic Forum, Geneva, on the Global Agenda Council on matters related to religion, faith and civil society.
