The Lacerte Family Writing & Academic Resource Center provides individual tutoring support to undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of writing, course tutoring, study approaches, and academic coaching.
The Lacerte Family Writing & Academic Resource Center is seeking experienced writing tutors to conduct one-on-one tutoring with students enrolled in a variety of courses. Tutors assist students in all phases of the writing process in hour-long sessions. Tutors work a set schedule at the Writing Center (approximately 10 hours a week), and the hours are flexible within our office hours of 9:00 am–5:00 pm. The ideal candidate will have tutoring or teaching experience and possess a strong grasp of grammar. Candidates must also have personal maturity, patience, and a desire to help others. Special projects will be assigned as well. This is an ideal position for WLP graduate students who have taken WR600 Teaching College Composition.
The Lacerte Family Writing & Academic Resource Center is also seeking two specialist tutors: a Marketing writing tutor and a Journalism tutor. The Marketing writing tutor must be enrolled in the Marketing Communications Department and will provide supplemental support to Marketing students in one-on-one tutoring sessions. This tutor will work with students on content-specific writing for a variety of marketing assignments (press releases, case studies, etc.). The Journalism writing tutor must be enrolled in the Journalism Department and will work closely with students on a variety of print and broadcast journalism assignments (news articles, scripts, etc.). The candidate should demonstrate mastery in grammar and be comfortable explaining grammar concepts.
