The WARC seeks both Writing Consultants and Academic Success Consultants.

Writing Consultants

Academic Success Consultants

The WARC seeks consultants to conduct one-on-one appointments with students enrolled in a variety of courses. Appointments include helping students with the following:

  • Study approaches
  • Time management
  • Academic problem solving
  • English Language Learning development
  • Targeted writing support

Consultants work a set schedule (10 hours/wk), and hours are flexible within our office hours of 9 a.m.—5 p.m. The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Tutoring, teaching or coaching experience
  • A strong grasp of grammar
  • Personal maturity, patience, and a desire to help others

Academic Success Consultants (specialists)

The WARC seeks one consultant specializing in journalism.

Journalism Consultant

The Journalism Consultant will work with students on a variety of print and broadcast journalism assignments (news articles, scripts, etc.). The candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Enrolled in Journalism Department
  • Knowledge of journalism conventions, including AP style
  • Willingness to work closely with Journalism faculty

Peer Tutors

The WARC seeks peer tutors in a variety of courses. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Success in coursework (A/A-)
  • Personal maturity, patience, and a desire to help others
  • Ability to explain course material and help students study
