Vice President's Message
Welcome to Emerson College!
Charles Wesley Emerson founded Emerson College in 1880 as a small school of oratory. Despite its humble origins, Emerson College has grown to be an innovative leader in communication and the arts. Our mission today reaffirms his dedication to inspire students to create and communicate with depth, honesty, courage, and passion, both as professionals in their fields and as informed and articulate participants in society.
Emerson College is unique. Whether on our Boston campus, which is located across from Boston Common and in the midst of the Theatre District, or at our Los Angeles campus, or in our thirteenth-century castle campus in The Netherlands, one will find students who are filled with energy, creativity, and desire. One will also find faculty engaged in providing rigorous curricula designed to blend the importance of liberal arts with theory and application in the various disciplines.
Emerson College faculty members are well prepared to present stimulating, thoughtful programs for students in each of our academic areas. In turn, we ask that our students be prepared to accept the challenges and excitement of learning about the disciplines and also developing those critical thinking tools that will serve them well as they adapt to changing technologies and theoretical perspectives.
Yes, Emerson College is unique, as you will discover as you click though our website. You will find that the Emerson family is dedicated to “bringing innovation to communication and the arts.” We invite you to join us in that exploration!
Linda Moore, Ph.D.
Vice President for Academic Affairs
