A Term faculty appointment is a full-time appointment issued for a year or a semester. It is a non-tenure track appointment. Some Term positions may be renewed and appointees reappointed depending on the needs of the department.

Faculty Search Committees

Search and Appointment of New Full-time Faculty Members follow the guidelines described in Section 5.1 – 5.3 of the Faculty Handbook (effective September 8, 2006 ). 

All faculty and staff members must attend one of the scheduled search committee orientation workshops in order to be eligible to serve on a faculty search committee during the 2009-10 academic year . The offices of Academic Affairs and Human Resources will schedule several orientations for which faculty and staff can sign up. These orientations will address search and screen procedures, best practices, and college policies. Topics to be discussed include pre-search issues, recruitment, pre-interview, interview best practices, recruitment, search committee responsibilities, and post-interview techniques. Read the Faculty Search Committee Orientation to review these search and screen procedures. An Authorization Form is required for candidate interviews.

Department of Visual and Media Arts
Professor in Directing Narrative Fiction

Description:

The Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College seeks to fill a full-time faculty position in directing narrative fiction at the rank of Full Professor, or as a Distinguished Director-in-Residence, depending on qualifications and experience. The appointment will begin September 1, 2010.

An M.F.A or Ph.D. degree is preferred, but candidates with significant professional experience will also be considered. College-level teaching experience is required. Candidates are expected to have a record of professional achievement that includes directing fiction in film or television that has been distributed nationally and/or internationally.  Responsibilities include teaching courses in directing, including directing actors for the screen, and supervising advanced undergraduate and graduate narrative fiction projects, as well as course in 16mm film and digital video production.
