
The Boston Campus
The Emerson College campus in Boston is comprised of a cluster of buildings near the intersection of Boylston and Tremont Streets — adjacent to historic Boston Common and at the gateway to a bustling Theatre District.
Focal points of the campus are the recently completed Piano Row Residence Hall and Max Mutchnick Campus Center at 150 Boylston Street, the beautifully restored Cutler Majestic Theatre (219 Tremont Street); the new Tufte Performance and Production Center (10 Boylston Place); the 14-story Ansin Building, where WERS-FM is located (180 Tremont Street); and the distinctive Little Building residence hall (80 Boylston Street).
The Walker Building (120 Boylston Street) houses the college's library and a new journalism and marketing communication wing. Academic and clinical facilities for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders are located at 216 Tremont Street.
The upper levels of the Colonial Building at 100 Boylston Street are being renovated for use as a residence hall, starting in the Fall of 2009, Commercial establishments, including Emerson's Cafe and the Colonial Theatre, are located on the street level.
Emerson has announced plans to develop a three-building arts-residence complex on Washington Street, about three blocks from the center of campus. The new Paramount Center will include the landmark Paramount Theatre, which will be renovated; a multi-level performance development building; a film screening room,and a residence hall for 260 students. Scheduled completion date is fall 2009.
The teaching, broadcasting and performance facilities utilize the latest digital technology to support programs in the communication and the arts are are considered to be among the best in the country.
Students use the facilities in the nearby Boston Common for relaxation and recreational activities such as tennis, softball, running and ice skating. Rotch Field, located about a mile from campus, serves as a practice and playing field for men's and women's soccer and lacrosse teams and the women's softball team.
