Meet the 2015-2016 Eco-Rep Team!
Ben Zacuto is a sophomore Marketing Communications major and Environmental Studies minor at Emerson College. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Ben has always loved the beautiful ecology of the Santa Monica Mountain Range and national recreation area. One of his favorite things to do is watch nature and science documentaries about wildlife and the relationship humans have with nature. As an EcoRep, he hopes to promote and share sustainable living and knowledge gained from his home environment and film documentation with fellow students.
Nako Narter is a sophomore VMA major originally from the San Francisco bay area. She loves hiking and recycling and can't really hike Boston. Thus, she dedicated herself to the EcoRep program to focus on the latter passion and spread the joy of sustainability.
Carrie is a sophomore VMA major with a minor in environmental studies. Her passion for the environment is what drives her eagerness to be an Ecorep. Raised in a log cabin in the woods, Carrie has grown to respect the healing quality of nature and wants to spread the message of conservation to make sure that generations to come can feel this same energy. She loves sustainability and advocacy and is always open to a discussion about the environment!
Rebecca Johnson is a freshman WLP major from Chicago, IL. She has always been passionate about writing, music, and theatre. She hopes to use her writing to affect social movements, particularly to promote sustainability. Rebecca is so excited to be in Boston, and working on a team to make Emerson a greener school.
Madelyn Sproat is a Freshman Musical Theatre major here at Emerson. She is from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and spends her free time eating grilled cheeses, playing with dogs, exploring Boston and reducing, reusing and recycling. She has always had a passion for sustainability and she is very excited to use her platform as an Eco-Rep to help educate people about the affects of their carbon footprints and to help the Emerson community reach climate neutrality by 2030.
Melissa is a freshman WLP major at Emerson College. She is from Portland, Oregon and attributes some of her love for environmentalism and nature to growing up in the Pacific Northwest. In her free time, Melissa loves to write and perform on stage. She looks forward to spreading her passion and knowledge about sustainability to the Emerson community.
Alexandra Morris is a freshman WLP major who lives in PRow but is originally from Riverside, Rhode Island, which is a pretty rad place if you ever want to ask her about it (home of the oldest carousel in the country!). She has been passionate about the enviornment from a very early age and self-started the enviornmental club at her middle school. She also got sent to her room once for shouting at her dad when he didn't recycle an empty soda can.
Johanna Stiefler Johnson
Johanna Stiefler Johnson is a first-year majoring in Writing, Literature and Publishing. She spent her childhood and teen years moving from country to country and feels most at home in Bangkok, Thailand and Bornholm, Denmark. Johanna is an adamant feminist, environmentalist, and lover of the arts. She does everything she can to be a positive influence to the world around her, and hopes that her position as an Eco Rep will help her continue to do so!
Amy joined the Emerson community in October 2015 and is thrilled to be working with young activists and leaders. Amy's background is in sustainable food systems and she spends her free time outside biking, gardening and exploring Boston.
