Digital Production Labs & Editing Suites
Digital Production Lab (DPL) 1
This 21-workstation Digital Production Laboratory features a mixture of late-model Intel Macintosh computers running with Leopard plus five high-end PCs running Windows XP. Both hardware sets feature their respective versions of the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) and the Macromedia MX Suite (Director, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash) and other supporting software. The PCs run Adobe Premiere while the Macs feature Final Cut Pro Studio 2.
The lab is located on the eighth floor of the Ansin Building, 180 Tremont Street.
Digital Production Lab (DPL) 2
This 19-workstation Production Laboratory is dedicated to the first Digital Production course (VM 120). Nineteen Macintosh workstations run the Adobe and Macromedia Suites on OS X and Apple Final Cut Pro Studio 2.
The lab is located on the seventh floor of the Ansin Building, 180 Tremont Street.
Video Editing Lab (VEL)
The Video Editing Laboratory contains 11 AVID Macintosh workstations augmented by Photoshop, After Effects Production bundle, and DVD Studio Pro authoring software.
The lab is located on the eighth floor of the Ansin Building, 180 Tremont Street.
Editing Suites
- Suites A, B, and C are equipped with OS X and high-power Macintosh CPUs with AVID Pro and Mojo boards plus Photoshop and After Effects. This makes the editing suites suitable for longer-length, upper-level projects for advanced students and graduate students.
- Suite D is a new Avid Nitris 3.0 Suite, operating on a high-end Macintosh workstation.
- Suite E runs Avid 2.8 on an Intel PC and has limited high-definition capability.
- Suite F is reserved for advanced students doing complex new media projects requiring extensive memory and other special requirements. Suite F is fundamentally the same as the configuration of DPL 1.
Mix B
Mix B is a high-end video finishing room and 5.1 Mix-to-Pix Surround Sound room. Both the digital mixing board and Pro Tools 192 system afford students the possibility of 5.1 mixes with as many as 64 separate tracks.
A new high-definition LCD Projector provides bright, sharp images.
