Writer, Photographer, Multimedia Producer
Daniel Lovering is a multi-platform journalist based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Economist and Foreign Policy, among other publications. For eight years, he worked as a staff writer for The Associated Press, reporting from nearly a dozen countries on subjects ranging from natural disasters and conflicts to travel and the arts. As a national business writer based in Pittsburgh, he covered large U.S. corporations such as Alcoa, Boeing and Caterpillar. While working as a foreign correspondent in Southeast Asia, he covered the aftermath of the Indian Ocean tsunami, the spread of avian influenza, ethnic insurgencies and the resettlement of refugees, among other stories. He was also sent on assignment to cover the war in Afghanistan. Previously he worked for the French news agency Agence France-Presse.
Lovering's work as a photographer has appeared in newspapers and solo and group exhibitions in Pittsburgh and the Boston area. He has produced video and multimedia pieces for Technology Review magazine and other clients.
Lovering has been awarded several journalism fellowships, including a 2012 Knight Luce Fellowship for Reporting on Global Religion.
