Nancy J. Allen, MPH has over 20 years of experience in the fields of communication, public health, and event management. Her experience includes strategic communication planning, qualitative research, creative direction, copywriting, video scriptwriting, graphic design, and training and facilitation with a primary focus on health communication.
Ms. Allen was previously the Senior Communication Associate at Health Resources in Action where she developed social marketing campaigns and health promotion materials on a number of public health topics including tobacco, substance abuse, injury and violence prevention, obesity prevention, teen health, and sexual health. Prior to that, Ms. Allen was a Health Communication Specialist at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, HIV/AIDS Bureau, where she oversaw development of training curriculum on topics such as HIV, hepatitis, STDs and GLBT health for HIV/AIDS providers.
She has presented at several national conferences including American Public Health Association (APHA), CDC's Health Communication, Marketing and Media, and Sex: Tech 2008. Ms. Allen has run her own independent consultancy since 2010, working primarily with non-profit organizations and state entities. Her passions are public health, environmental sustainability, and social justice.
