Sharmishtha Roy Chowdhury is an historian of modern France with research interests in modern world history, modern India and intellectual and cultural history.
She has extensive experience in teaching both western and non-western history. Before joining the faculty at Emerson College, she taught at the University of Connecticut, Stamford, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Northwestern University. Her historical novel, The Communist Cookbook, (Penguin Books, India) is forthcoming.
