Kathy Hassinger is artistic director of Dance Currents, Inc., teaches world dance at Emerson, and ballet classes for Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre. She has performed and choreographed for Dance Visions in Boston and danced for Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble, Dorothy Hershkowitz, The Publick Theatre and the New Repertory Theatre in Boston, and for Ethel Butler in Washington, D.C.
Hassinger's own dance productions in the Boston area and New York City include A Collection of Dances, Dances to the Music of Archangelo Corelli, Three Modern Choreographers (at Triskelion Arts in New York), Bridging the Gulf (a dance and music benefit for Turkey Creek Community Initiatives), and Currents of Contemporary Choreographers.
Hassinger collaborated with Delvyn Case, a prize-winning composer who teaches at Wheaton College, on Dayspring, and produced a concert around this theme in Spring, 2009 at Eastern Nazarene College and Brookline Tai Chi. In Spring, 2010, Hassinger produced a concert at The Dance Complex entitled Myths, Memories and Shadows of Morning. Hassinger is working on a film of famous modern dances, which will highlight their living legacy.
