Ronald De Marco
Ronald J. De Marco is a properties director with an extensive and varied background in technical theatre. De Marco has been a Resident Stage Manager for Buffalo Theatre Ensemble in Chicago's suburbs, a production manager for the Chicago-based Victory Gardens Theater (winner of a Regional Theater Tony Award); and at Northwestern University, he mentored graduate students in the craft of supervising and training undergraduates in the craft of building scenery.
De Marco also has worked as a freelance technical director, property designer, stage manager, sound engineer, master electrician, and more for renowned theatre companies in Illinois, as well as with more than a dozen of the Boston area's most well-established theatrical organizations. De Marco continues to occasionally create scenic designs for many of these same companies.
As Emerson's properties director, De Marco has created one of the largest "lending libraries" of furniture and props in the New England area. Pieces of the inventory have appeared in hundreds of stage productions as well as many major motion pictures shot in the Boston area. De Marco also has taught one-day intensive prop workshops for the Wisconsin Area Theatre Festival and the State University of New York at Oswego. At Emerson, De Marco teaches several courses that focus exclusively on properties work for theatre, film, and television.
De Marco was a props assistant on the recent movie Locked In,starring Ben Barnes, which filmed in Boston. In Spring, 2010, De Marco had a prop-based sculpture entitled Capital Radio on display at the Eli Whitney Museum in Hamden, CT.
