Workshop in Theatrical Creation with Thaddeus Phillips
Saturday February 15 * 11am-1pm
Thaddeus Phillips, theater artist, designer and director will be leading a two hour workshop in theatrical creation. This workshop will lead participants through the process of creating an original theater work from everyday objects, personal stories, and the everyday world around. By the end of the session, an outline for a new theatrical work will be finished and leave the participants with the clear idea of the creative methods used by Mr. Phillips and the Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental. The workshop begins with a collective group drawing that is then mined for ideas, objects, characters and plot lines. Then a series of improvisations are set up from which to build material that is then turned out into a performance outline. The concepts of transformative and liquid stage space will be explored as well as object work, and the application of cinematic editing onstage.
