Printing
Emerson College labs and print kiosks provide users with access to black & white and color laser printers and photo inkjet printers. Here is information to help you take full advantage of these resources:
How to Print in the Labs
You can print to lab and kiosk printers from the lab and kiosk workstations or even from your own computer (such as your laptop). Visit the page on Printing from Your Own Computer to learn how to set up your computer to print to one of our printers.
To print a document, go to the File menu of the application you are using and select Print. When you're using a print kiosk or lab workstation, you will be able to choose from printers available at that location. Be sure to choose the correct type of printer for your needs, as prices vary.
When you have finished making selections in the print dialog, clicking Print or OK will send your job to the Print Release Station near the printer. Swipe your Emerson ID (or building access or ECcash card, where applicable) at this station and use the touch screen to select your print job. Then press Print to send the job to the printer, where it will print out momentarily.
Please note:
- If you would like to use your own paper, labels, transparencies, etc. in the laser printers, please visit the I.T. Help Desk or see the lab assistant.
- You must have your Emerson ID when you print–if you cannot swipe your card at the Print Release Station, you will be unable to collect your printout. This is the only method accepted for print payment.
- Always log out of the Print Release Station when you have finished printing; once you have logged in by swiping your card at the station, you will be charged for all prints made there until you log out.
- If you need any assistance while printing, please alert the lab assistant or call the I.T. Help Desk at ext. 8080.
Printing Costs
At the beginning of every semester, $5.00 of printing credit is added to your Emerson ID. Should you use up all your print credits, ECcash is used to pay for additional printing. Students in the Department of Professional Studies and Special Programs will have $5.00 of printing credit attached to their building access cards.
Printing costs vary by the type of printer used and the size of the paper being printed on. Double-sided (or duplex) laser prints cost the same as single-sided prints.
