lyndaCampus
The lynda.com Online Training Library is an excellent resource offering thousands of self-paced video tutorials on a wide range of computer skills. Topics offered include Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, programming languages, basic computer skills, and more. Thanks to a partnership between Emerson College and lynda.com, these resources are now available to you free, through a program called lyndaCampus.
Signing up for lyndaCampus is simple, but there are two things to keep in mind:
- You must use your emerson.edu email address as your user name
- You must complete the sign-up process on a computer or device that is connected to the Emerson College network
Follow these steps to sign up:
- From a computer connected to the campus network, go to iplogin.lynda.com and click the create a profile button*
- Enter your first and last name in the appropriate fields.
- In the user name field, enter your emerson.edu email address
- Create and confirm a unique password for lynda.com. This should not be the same as your ECnet password. This password needs to be at least six characters and must include a letter, a number, and a special character.
- Click log in.
*If you have a previously-created lynda.com profile associated with your Emerson email, just log in at iplogin.lynda.com instead of creating a new profile. Your account history will be transferred to lyndaCampus.
Now what?
Now that you've created your lyndaCampus profile, simply use this information to log in to lynda.com to access the training library. You can do this anywhere you have an Internet connection--whether you are on- or off-campus!
At the top of the page, you can browse tutorials by subject, software, or author, or just use the search bar to find what you need. There is also a menu called my courses, from which you can access your usage history, any bookmarks you may have set, your course-completion certificates, and any courses you may have put in your queue for future viewing.
