Connecting to the VPN with Windows XP
When connecting to the VPN with Windows XP, it is necessary to use the provided VPN client to manage the connection. Download that below and proceed with the instructions.
Download the VPN Client Installer for Windows XP »
Download and launch the installer above. Advance through the installer with all of the default options.
1. When the install is finished, launch the client from the folder that opened when the installer exited. This shortcut is also available on your Start Menu, under Nortel Networks.
2. The first time you launch the client, it will prompt you to create a new profile using the Connection Wizard. Click Yes to launch the Wizard. Enter a name for the connection; this is for your reference, but you'll want to name it something recognizable like Emerson VPN. Click Next.
The next screen, Authentication Type, defaults to Username and Password; leave it like that and click Next.

Now you need to enter your ECnet username and password. Click Next again.

The Group Authentication Information screen defaults to No. Change it to Yes, I have a Group ID and Group Password. Fields will appear at the bottom where you can input Emerson's Group ID and password. If you do not have this information, please call the Help Desk at 617-824-8080 and it will be provided to you. Click Next.

The Destination screen needs the hostname or IP Address to connect to in order to access the VPN. Fill it in and click Next.
- IP Address: 199.94.95.12

The Dial-up Connection screen defaults to No... Unless you use Dial-Up to access your Internet connection, you can leave this as is and click Next and then Finish.
That's it for the Connection Wizard. If you're ready to Connect, click on the Connect button at the bottom left.

Contivity will attempt to complete your connection to the VPN.

3. When the connection has been established, you will be presented with the Security Banner you see above. Click Accept/Close.

When you're done using the VPN, make sure you disconnect; you can do this through the System Tray icon in the lower right corner of your screen.
