Connecting to the VPN with Windows Vista or 7

These instructions are intended for users running either of the most recent versions of Windows, Vista or 7. The instructions are the same for both versions.

Opening the Network and Sharing Center1. From the System Tray of icons in the lower right-hand cornder of the screen, look for the icon of two computer monitors with a globe. This is the representation of your network connection. Right click on it and choose the very first item, Network and Sharing Center.

2. From the left side list of Tasks, choose to Set up a connection or network.

Connect to a Workplace3. From the list of options, choose Connect to a workplace and click Next.

Choosing your connection methodNext, you need to specify how you want to connect. This depends on your internet connection. Unless you're using dial-up internet access, though, choose the first option, Use my Internet connection.

Configuring the VPNNext, fill in the Internet address for the VPN. The next field, Destination Name, is a name that you can specify for your own reference, but we recommend naming it something recognizable, such as Emerson VPN.

  • Internet address: 199.94.95.12

Entering your ECnet credentialsIn this last screen, enter your ECnet username and password. For Domain, type EMERSON. Then click Connect.

Connected to the Emerson VPN4. That's it! You should now be connected.

If you have trouble connecting this way, view our Guide for an alternate way to set up the VPN.
