Connecting to the VPN
Emerson's VPN, or Virtual Private Network, provides secure off-campus access to IP restricted services. For example, if you're working from home and need to get to your Cabinet folder, you'll need the VPN. From off-campus, you can't get to the VPN without it.
However, the success of this service depends on factors outside of our control, such as the quality of service afforded by your ISP and the quality of your home computer setup. If you encounter problems, please let us know.
The VPN is not necessary to access your email from off campus, unless you want to use Outlook in Exchange mode. To access email over the web from off campus, go to http://ecmail.emerson.edu

If you're using the most recent versions of Windows, Vista or 7, you have two options for how to connect. One option uses Windows' built-in connectivity tools, and is the simplest and fastest to set up. If you have trouble with this method, you can also download and install a VPN client that will manage the connection for you.
