William Gilligan, Vice President for Information Technology
The Vice President for Information Technology is responsible for the areas of (1) Information Technology (including Information Systems, Help Desk, Lab Operations), (2) the department of Television, Radio and Film (including TRF Operations & Engineering, Emerson Channel, Emerson Productions), (3) WERS-FM, (4) Instructional Technology, and (5) Networking & Telecommunications. This vice president position was created in 1999, and reflects the College’s commitment to developing technological facilities necessary for the evolving requirements of academic programs and campus systems.
In over 25 years at Emerson, Dr. Gilligan has served in a number of capacities, starting as a faculty member in the Division of Computer Applications and Mathematics in 1984. In 1999 he was appointed Vice President for Information Technology. As VP, he oversees Information Systems; Networking and Telecommunications; Instructional Technology; Television, Radio and Film Production; and WERS-88.9 FM, the #1 college radio station in the U.S. (Princeton Review). Gilligan earned a BA from Boston College, an MST from the University of New Hampshire, and an Ed.D from Boston University.
