Maureen Murphy, Vice President for Administration and Finance
The Chief Financial Officer of the College is the Vice President for Administration and Finance. The VP for Administration & Finance Office manages the financial, physical and human resources of Emerson College. The Office acts as liaison to the Board of Trustees – Finance Committee, Investment Committee, Facilities Committee and Audit Committee. The departments reporting to the VP for Administration & Finance Office are: (1) Financial Affairs which includes budget and planning, the controller’s office, treasury services and reporting (2) Procurement (accounts payable and purchasing) and Business Operations Strategies, (3) Construction/Los Angeles Project, (4) Facilities and Campus Services which includes contract services–dining, print and copy property management of leased properties and Boston construction services (5) Human Resources which includes employment and employee relations, compensation and benefits, payroll and organization and staff development.
Previously, Murphy was Vice President for Financial Affairs and Treasurer at Brandeis University and former Chief Financial Officer at New York University in Abu Dhabi. Maureen has managed operating budgets of more than $200 million and an endowment of $600 million. She has more than 25 years of experience and leadership in financial management, administration, and capital project planning and oversight. She has also held leadership positions in the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers (EACUBO), and The Boston Consortium (TBC) of colleges and universities in Greater Boston.
Maureen is a certified public accountant (CPA). She is an honors graduate of Northeastern University, and holds a master’s degree in accounting from Northeastern and a master’s degree in taxation from Bentley University. Prior to her assignments at Brandeis and NYU, she worked at Tufts University and at KPMG (formerly Peat Marwick).
