Students from 18 countries, 42 states, and the District of Columbia were welcomed to Emerson College with dancing, advice, vision, and some colorful stories on the part of administrators at the Cutler Majestic Theatre on Wednesday, August 31.
In August, Abhishek Suryawanshi served as a trainer/organizer at the United Nations #HerStory Edit-a-thon, held at the UN Headquarters in New York City, where he led university students in editing sessions intended to close the gender gap on the giant online reference site.
Students moved into Emerson College Los Angeles on August 28, kicking off a week of programming welcoming them to Hollywood with events like a carnival, food bank community service event, and a professional develpoment panel featuring alumni.

On Monday, August 29, mom Laurie Ender is in the middle of the late-summer ritual known as Emerson Move-In, a two-day ballet of controlled frenzy in which hundreds of freshmen and their families go from street to suite in about 10 minutes.
Emerson alunni Shannon Sweeny and Tyler Catanella started Paradise Lost, a dance collective that emphasizes narrative and collaboration in its productions, as well as in its bi-monthly open studio sessions called Movement SLAMs (Storytelling, Listening, and Movement).
